The 3 flag button on the bottom right of the interface (above all the stats) is used for making armies. Not sure if you can use it if you`re not part of a kingdom or have more than 1 party. Hovering over the flags before creating a kingdom just says "You need to be part of a kingdom."

In sandbox mode, the player will have a bit more freedom. Creating a kingdom is a little more confusing. To create your own kingdom in Bannerlord, you will have to meet a few different requirements: Reach Clan level 4. Hold their own fief. Have at least 1 companion.

Install the kingdom color changer mod and override your player faction colour. I had to use a dll unblocker to get the game to not crash. Once you're in the game with the override, the banner editor will let you change your background colour. Set the banner to whatever you want, save the game, then reload without the mod.

If you do this, everyone in the kingdom will get a -40 relations penalty for betrayal and the kingdom will war on you, you treacherous rebel scum.
