Likesome others here, I do not leave the wheel plugged into the PC when not playing AC, so that might be an issue. But I always use the same USB port to connect, and the PC always sees it. One interesting clue for me (though very unlikely to help others here): I use a ~1.5m USB extension cord to connect my wheel to my PC.

Literalracing teams use this, so despite my controller issues, I wouldn't call them overrated. They couldn't even get a ps4 controller working on this game. I doubt its credibility. You can't really blame the devs for that. Your issue has more to do with ds4 not being a native xinput controller.
